General information for foreigners who wish to travel to El Salvador
Steps to follow to apply to a visa for El Salvador according to the Salvadorean Home Office (spanish: Ministerio de Gobernacion de El Salvador):
- Contact or to attend the nearest Salvadorean Consulate
- You must present/display a valid passport, with validity of at least six months previous to expire.
- In the consulate they will give a form, which you will have to fill carefully providing all the details that are required.
- The Visa extension will be evaluated according to nationality and type of passport

When obtaining a visa to enter the Republic of El Salvador
- The expiration date of the visa will be the indicated one by the Consular civil servant at the time of its emission, or in the case of a visa of Only entrance until the carrier enters the country.
- Your permanence in Salvadorean territory will be subject to the time printed on your passport by the official of the Salvadorean Department of Immigration and Foreign Services and the Salvadorean Home Office (spanish: "Dirección General de Migración" y "Extranjería del Ministerio de Gobernación") at the time of entering the country through any borders/
Consular Visas (Single Entrance only)
- Payable fee of US$30.00 for consular tariffs. The visa will have the respective stamps.
- You must present/display a valid passport, with validity of least six months previous to expire.
- Attach a recent photograph to your completed application
- Copy of round trip tickets.
- Photocopies of the pages with visas from other countries
- Proof of employment, income, etc.
- Letter of Endorsement to El Salvador, address to: "Lawyer Geraldina Beneke, Directora General del Servicio Exterior."

(Please note that if the application has been filled by a legal professional representing a company that requests the entrance of foreigners to the country, he or she should attach a copy of their DUI).
Consular Visas (Multiple Entrances)
- Payable fee of US$60.00 for consular tariffs. The visa will have the respective stamps.
- You must present a photocopy of all the pages that have been used in your current passport.
- You must present a letter that endorses your visa application and that which sets out and justifies the reason for a Multiple Visa request.
- For people who travel for business purposes: You must present a letter on behalf of the Salvadorean company that has invited you or that which you have commercial ties.
- For people travelling to visit Salvadorean family or friends: You must present a letter of a Salvadorean friend/relative who endorses your visa application.
- Present/display supporting entrance papers.
Additional requirements for Multiple Consular Visas
Authorised Visa Endorsements
Requirements to obtain an Authorised Endorse Visa by the Salvadorean Home Office (Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería)
If the letter is sent by the Salvadorean company that has invited you, or by your Salvadorean relative/friend, it should be address to: "Director General de Migración y Extranjería" and it most contain the following information:
- Name (s) of or the applicant (s) (please attach photocopies of DUI of the representatives)
- Reason for the trip.
- Time of stay (amount of days or estimated dates is available).
- Place of residence, address, telephone and email (from your country of origin or residence)
- Consulate in which the visa was stamped in.
- Provide address of where you will stay whilst in the country.
- The following paragraph should be included in the endorsement letter: Me comprometo a notificar por escrito a la Dirección General de Migración cuando él o (los) solicitantes abandonen el país" (I compromise myself to notify, in writing, to Home Office when this applicant (s) leaves the country) this means that they will have to notify in writing to the Home DMG within the first 15 days after the exit of the applicant, providing date, flight and air line in which they departed.

Please attach the following to the endorsement letter:
- Filled application for the visa.
- Copy of an effective passport (data sheet, extension and expiration. Residents of Cuba should include a copy of the exit authorisation).
- Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Any other document that may be of help.
- Colour photocopy or "scanned" copy of the passport in digital format (via e-mail) instead of fax. This, to make sure that the photography is clear.
- Documentation that legitimises the company to ask for the entrance of foreigners: Scripture of the Society Constitution ("Constitución de Sociedad") properly enrolled in the Registry of Societies, Registry of Commerce, with it's effective Credential enrolled in the Registry of Commerce, NIT, TAX and Society Cards.
