Symbols Overview
Patriotic Symbols are a significant representation of countries. A symbol is a representation of a concept. When we talk about symbols we refer to the representations that allow us to establish a relationship with concepts such as freedom, the pride of a nation, integrity, strength and others. Each nation selects items that identify their culture and heritage, and thus shape their identity. Article 64 of the Constitution states: "The Symbols are: The Pavilion or National Flag, Coat of Arms, and the National Anthem. A law shall regulate matters concerning this subject."
Based on the foregoing, the Legislative Assembly created the "Law of Patriotic Symbols" by Legislative Decree No. 115, on September 14, 1972, published in the Official Journal No. 171 volume 236.
In addition to those mentioned above there are other known patriotic symbols, which strengthen national identity. Some of them are part of our flora and fauna. They have been known and significantly embraced by our population for years. These are officially recognized by the Legislative Assembly.
