In order to work in Ireland, you will require a Personal Public Service Number ( (PPS Number). This is Ireland's equivalent of a UK National Insurance number. In order for you and your Irish employer to comply with EU and Irish tax legislation, anybody working in Ireland needs to apply for this number. Please note that you can only apply to this number once in Ireland.
Your local Social Welfare Office will provide you with a PPS number. Contact your nearest or most convenient Social Welfare office in Ireland who will assist you with the registration process (http://www.welfare.ie/)
In order to receive an Irish PPS number, you will need to fill out an application form and provide proof of your identity.
Requirements
EU Nationals - (other than UK ) and citizens of Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland:
- Current valid Passport or National Identity Card and;
- Evidence of either birth / work / unemployment / residency / tax liability / education in an EU/EEA country or Switzerland and;
- Evidence of address in Ireland.
