    Basic rates of pay in London

    Accountancy:

    • Junior accounts assistant: £8-£13
    • Junior credit controller: £8-£22
    • Newly qualified: £13-£16
    • Qualified/QBE from: £25
    • Banking and Finance:
    • Entry level: £10-£13
    • Part-qualified: £13-£23
    • Newly qualified (six months + banking exp.): £22-£28
    • Qualified/experienced: From £23

    Lawyers:

    • £14-£17 (1 year experience)

    Teaching

    • £90-£120 per day (usually a minimum of £550/week)

    Nannying:

    • £200-£300pw (live-in)
    • £250-£350pw (live-out)

      Secretaries, receptionists & office staff:

    • Junior: £9-£10.50
    • Senior: £11-£14
    • Legal secretary: £13
    • Receptionist: £8-£10
    • Office junior: £7.50-£10
    • Personal assistants: £10.50-£14
    • Switchboard operators: £8-£10
    • Data entry operators: £8-£10
    • DTP operators: £12-14

      Waitressing & bar work:

    • £5-£7/hr (live-out) (average of £6.50/hour)
    • £140-£170 per week (live-in) (average of £4.30/hour)

    Call centre work:

    • £7-£9

    Rates should always be checked with industry professionals. All rates are per hour unless otherwise stated. The minimum wage in the UK is £4.60 (age 18-21); £5.52 (22+).
